After watching them together in ads we have been hoping to see them together pairing up for the film, and yeah, the director Zoya Akhtar has approached Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh for her upcoming directorial.
Last year, it was rumored that the stars have been roped in but the actors didn’t called in for some date issues. Even, it was also headlined that Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan will make her debut opposite Ranveer Singh.
Thankfully, all the rumors have by gone and is official now that Ranveer and Alia will be the part of Zoya Akhtar’s “Gully Boy”. The name of the second male lead is not out yet, and the film is still under scripting stage. The film will be produced under Farhan Akhtar and to be directed by Zoya Akhtar.

Yes, my next film is inspired by real life street rappers. I watched these kids on the Net and they just blew my mind. I didn’t know that this kind of music was coming out of the lanes and by-lanes of Mumbai. People are so consumed with listening to just film music that nobody pays attention to some serious talent on the streets. That is how it all started.
Ranveer’s role is to be based on Mumbai rappers Naezy and Divine, who came out with an anthem titled ‘Mere Gully Mein’.
