Anurag Kashyap's directed film ‘Ugly’ may be admired by the Critics, but the film had a dull opening at the box office. The film opened to approximately 5 per cent collections all over the country according to a report.
The 3rd day box office collection of the Ronit Roy, Girish Kulkarni, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Surveen Chawla, Vipin Sharma and Vineet Kumar Singh starrer film is just 40 lakhs.

The thriller and Dark Bollywood movie ‘Ugly’ directed by Anurag Kashyap the famous director released on 26th December 2014. The film also faced the competition from Rajnikanth ‘Lingaa’ and Amir Khan’s starrer Bollywood film ‘PK’. The film is released in only 400 screens all across the country which also affects its box office collection.

Surveen playing a role of C-grade item girl in the film believes that the movie will grow with word-of-mouth. Surveen stated about the film ugly"I am a huge fan of Rajkumar Hirani and both the films are extremely different. The audience of 'Ugly' is not same as that of 'PK'. 'Ugly' is film is for the niche audience. There is a different set of people who want to watch Anurag's films."The release of two movies simultaneously this Friday, Amir Khan Starrer Pk and the south Indian film Lingaa affect the overall collection of ‘Ugly’.
