Taapsee Pannu to Portray Mithali Raj's Biopic Titled ‘Shabaash Mithu’

Taapsee Pannu is one powerhouse performer who never fails to impress her fans, whether it is her acting or choice of films. Yes, the diva intrigued us with her movies like 'Pink,' 'Mulk,' 'Naam Shabana,' 'Game Over,' and  'Badla.' And today, the actress announced her next flick with the captain of the Indian women's cricket team Mithali Raj on the latter's birthday.

While sharing pictures of herself with the skipper on Instagram account, in which Mithali is seen cutting her birthday cake, Tapsee wrote,

"Happy Happy Birthday Captain @mithaliraj ! You have made all of us proud in more than many ways and it’s truly an honour to be chosen to showcase your journey on screen. On this Birthday of yours I don’t know what gift I can give you but this promise that I shall give it all I have to make sure you will be proud of what you see of yourself on screen with #ShabaashMithu
P.S- I am all prepared to learn THE ‘cover drive’ 🏏
HappyBirthdayCaptain"

Last year when the news came about Taapsee Pannu being signed for the Mithali Raj’s biopic, PTI asked the actress about it in the interview to which the Badla actress had replied,

"The script is not in place so it's too early to talk about it. Right now, they are collecting material and the script has not been written yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I really want to do a sports biopic."

And, with the graph of her movie, we can say that Taapsee's wish has been granted as she will be seen in various sports biopics, last being Saand Ki Aankh.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, in August this year, Taapsee had confirmed that she was in talks for the Mithali Raj biopic. She had said,

“Honestly, I’ve stopped counting the number of sports films that have come to me! Maybe it’s because people by now are aware about the kind of love I have for sports. Also the fact that I’m very inquisitive to learn sports, makers know I’ll put in my 100 percent to learn. But, I’ve chosen few out of all those. Yes, I’m inclined towards the theme, but my film choices will be more basis what the story is. I probably admire and follow so many sports stars, but not everybody has a story worth making into a movie. It’s a journey probably worth admiring.”

She had added,

“Also, I’d say that I’d love to be part of the Mithali film, but it’s too early right now to say it’s happening. I’m in talks for it. I’m doing another sports film, which will be announced soon.”

Apart from Mithali Raj’s biopic, in which Taapsee will be seen playing a cricketer life story, the actress will be next seen in another biopic of an athlete Rashmi from Gujarat,  titled as Rashmi Rocket.
