Like his last few films such as Satyamev Jayate & Parmanu, John Abraham is back with another patriotic movie RAW - Romeo Akbar Walter which is set before the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
Recently, the actor tweeted the details of the trailer release and made everyone excited about it. He wrote,
“Romeo. Akbar. Walter. A story of sacrifice, patriotism & undying love for the country. #RAWTrailer releasing at 1 PM today.”https://twitter.com/TheJohnAbraham/status/1102411876351172609
Then soon, he again tweeted,
“धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः
His dharma was to protect his nation against all evils and enemies. Here’s presenting the trailer of ‘Romeo. Akbar. Walter’. In cinemas on 5th April. ”
The 2-minutes-46-seconds video begins with Jackie Shroff who is playing the role of the Top RAW officer, announcing,
“We are on the verge of a war with Pakistan.”Well, the statement might appear confined to you but, the flick is a period piece, set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan war which is also said to be inspired by true events.
However, going by its trailer, Jackie Shroff recruits a bank employee (John Abraham) to be trained and sent to Pakistan to gather some information about military or political values. He is well trained to undertake a special mission ‘that could change the course of history for India.’
Many shots of John undergoing spy training can be seen in the trailer which looks very similar to some scenes of Alia Bhatt’s Raazi. Same as Alia from Raazi, John’s journey in Pakistan is also difficult and marred with challenges.
Meanwhile, Jackie tells him,
“You will have to proceed with the knowledge that you are always being watched.”Actress Mouni Roy also appeared in the trailer but for a very short time so nothing much can be said about her role in the film.
It has been reported that John Abraham was not the first choice for the role. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was first approached, but he quit the project in 2017 due to some conflict of dates.
In one interview, speaking about his character in the movie, Abraham had explained how he would be seen donning about eight looks.
“I do have eight different looks in the film. The effort that goes into giving me those looks is immense. It’s time consuming but completely worth the effort. There’s a cast that they create to create to give me the desired get-up. I play everything from an 85-year- old man to a 26-year-old and this is probably the most challenging role of my life. I’ve realised that today’s cinema is about facing challenges. It’s not about showing great disco dance moves in a project. I get good nervous energy when I am prepping for a difficult film and ‘RAW’ is in that space.”The film directed by Robbie Grewal also stars Sikander Kher, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan and, Bikramjeet Kanwarpal and will hit the cinemas on April 5.
