Manjhi - The Mountain Man (2015)

Manjhi - The Mountain Man is a true story of a man named Dashrath Manjhi who broke a mountain. He was a labourer in Gehlaur Village, near Gaya in Bihar. Using the only tools hammer and chisel, through a 25 ft tall hill, he alone craved a 30 ft wide and 360 ft long path in 22 years. This resulted in the 55 km travel between Atri and Wazirganj blocks of Gaya town to 15 km travel.

The movie received great response from audience. Nawazuddin played the role of Dashrath Manjhi and his wife Faguniya was portrayed by Radhika Apte.

Bihar Government declared it tax free on 30 July 2015.

Gangs of Wasseypur 2 (2012)

One of the best movies of Nawazuddin Siddiqui on crime. It is based on the Coal mafia of Dhanbad, Jharkhand featuring power struggles, politics and vengeance between three crime families.

Co-written, produced and directed by Anurag Kashyap, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadda, Huma Qureshi, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajkummar Rao and Zeishan Quadri in major roles. The story spans from 1990s to 2009. It received ‘A’ certification from censor board.

Nawazuddin played the role of Faizal, second son of Manoj Bajpayee who was starred in the first part. A total smoker and drugs addicted, Faizal cares for no one. After his elder brother Danish’s death, he sets out to seek revenge from Ramadhir for his father and brother’s death.

Kahaani (2012)

A mystery thriller film co-written, co-produced and directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan), a pregnant lady is searching for her missing husband in Kolkata during Durga Puja.

Nawazuddin played the role of A. Khan, deputy Intelligence Bureau (IB) official who is rude and uptight.

The film grabbed several awards and the sequel in production starring Vidya and Arjun Rampal.

Talaash (2012)

A psychological horror thriller film directed by Reema Kagti starring Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Shernaz Patel and many others.

Nawazuddin plays the role of Tehmur who is the prime witness of murder. The film received national and international recognition.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)

Bajrangi (Salman Khan) embarks on a journey to take a dumb Pakistani girl back to her parents. Directed by Kabir Khan, Salman Khan and Harshali Malhotra are the lead, Nawazuddin and Kareena Kapoor are the supporting performers.

The film was a big success. Nawazuddin as Chand Nawab was a Pakistani reporter who helps Bajrangi in the whole journey.

Miss Lovely (2014 Release)

Miss Lovely, an Indian drama directed by Ashim Ahluwalia. The film explores the lives of those producing C Grade movies in the 1990s.

Cast includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Niharika Singh,Menaka Lalwani, Anil George, Zeena Bhatia. Playing Sonu Duggal, Nawazuddin finds himself falling in love with a mysterious woman which leads to his downfall.

The film was showcased in the Cannes Film Festival 2012 under the Uncertain Regards category. It was screened at many other film festivals including Toronto International Film Festival and International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Black Friday (2007)

True story of the 1993 Bombay blasts. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, nominated for Best Film (Golden Leopard) at the Locarno International Film Festival.

An anthology series of 4 short films directed by Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar. It was screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Nawazuddin played the role of Purander in ‘Star’ by Dibakar Banerjee. He is an unsuccessful actor who is struggling for a living after his father’s death.

Dekh Indian Circus (2011) 

The film delivers the struggles face by a rural India. Set in a village in Rajasthan, the film is directed by Mangesh Hadawale, starring Tannishtha Chatterjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Virender Singh Rathod, Suhani Oza.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Jethu is a mute character who is a loving husband for her childhood sweetheart Kajaro and a caring father.

Crime drama film directed by Sriram Raghavan starring Varun Dhawan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Yami Gautam, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta, Radhika Apte. The film did well at the box office.

It is based on a true incident, two men advertising executive Raghu (Varun Dhawan ) and bank robber Liak (Nawazuddin) are haunted by a crime that one of them has committed.

Lunchbox (2013)

Starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film was directed by Ritesh Batra. It is a love story of a housewife and a widower who is about to retire from his accountant job. They fall in love through lunchbox.

Nawazuddin playing the role of Shaikh was to be appointed as accountant in place of Irrfan Khan.

The film received great response and achieved various awards. The film screened at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival at International Critics Week.
