Margarita with a Straw movie touches the heart and makes people come along the ugly reality, that a young teen with cerebral palsy might go through. The story gyrates around a Delhi based girl Laila played by Kalki Koechlin. Laila is regular girl by heart, with lots of talent and dreams of sexual intimacy and all.
The girl is wholeheartedly accepted by her family and friends. However, when it comes to exploring her sexual desires, she has to pay the cost of physical inabilities.
The talented damsel gets a chance to rise high, by getting scholarship to study at New York University. Her life takes a turn when she finds mates in the form of Jared and a blind lesbian, Khanum played by Sayani Gupta. Here she explores the new shades of her sexuality!

As much as Margarita with a Straw Review is concerned, it is acquiring good responses from critics and audiences as well. It’s a sheer blend of emotions from intimacy to helplessness and grief. Kalki shows far-excellence in portraying the role of Laila, even being bounded to a wheelchair she has yet touched the hearts deep down.Furthermore, the well-written script had the congregate with Shonali Bose’s excellent direction, which made it a perfect platter to serve. The film revolves around a very sensitive as well as provocative topic however, she manages to depict it in the most brilliant manner possible.
The film also stars Revathi, Kuljeet Singh, Sayani Gupta, William Moseley, and Malhar Khushu in supporting roles.
