Finally, after all the hurdles and controversies, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi trailer is out! No wonder, Kangana Ranaut as a warrior mother and a fearless queen in every frame of the newly-released trailer of Manikarnika. She is in the titular role and has been in news ever since it was announced. Even she became the highest paid actress in Bollywood with this movie.

The period film, co-directed by Krish and Kangana, has substantial buzz surrounding its release, thanks to its mammoth scale and a mass-appealing subject.

The journey of a simple girl Manu to becoming a fierce nationalist queen is so beautifully shown in the 3-minute trailer makes us more impatient to wait for the entire movie. With blood, weaponry battle gear, and finely draped in patriotism, Kangana in Manikarnika declares:

“We both want Jhansi, the difference is you want to rule and I want to serve.”
The trailer begins with the forces of British East India company soldiers laying blockade around Jhansi. When company soldiers surround the Jhansi, an anecdote informs the viewers that the British would annex Jhansi the way they have done to other princely states across India unless a successor is found for the throne. Then we meet Kangana’s Manikarnika, fearless and feisty. And, with a powerful monologue, she tells a group of sword fighters:
“Kanyay kaise kalaiyaan ghumate hai, main dikhati hun,”.
Meanwhile, she is married to the king of Jhansi, Raja Gangadhar Rao with whom she also had a son, though he dies after four months. Further, they adopted the son of Gangadhar’s cousin and named him Damodar Rao. Further, Britishers attack her fort in Jhansi, and she escapes with a small group of her loyal soldiers in order to meet the company’s soldiers. Well, she goes down fighting, in the end.

The movie also stars Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongpa, Ankita Lokhande, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Atul Kulkarni, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Jisshu Sengupta among others.

As Kangana hasn’t had a single release since September 2017 when Simran hit the screens, it has been seen that Kangana’s involvement in the ambitious film was completely devoted.

Along with Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, Kangana has been credited as the co-director. At the event of trailer launch, Kangana said,

“I was telling my sister yesterday, ‘I don’t know what is it about me but I really love working as a technician.’ No actor wants to be out in the sun as opposed to being in the AC van. No actor wants to be among 80 sweaty people who are asking you 100 questions. No actor wants to do recce when they can sit conveniently in their luxury suites. I don’t know what is it about me that I am so comfortable in this job. There is nothing I love more than directing. Even though I don’t get to wear make-up or look like my star self or get any special treatment. It is absolutely a worker’s life to be honest, but there’s something so amazing about this job that I don’t know why people even consider this a job. It is so much fun. I think acting is more like a job but directing is a lot of fun. I hope I get more chances to do this. This seems like my first love.”
She added,
“As far as the creative aspect is concerned, I want to give credit to the writers. The script never changed. I didn’t have to take anyone’s vision forward. I could use my own vision. I didn’t see any obstacle like that. But it is definitely difficult to step in someone else’s shoes. So, my future directing project would be easier than this.

Nothing can match the larger-than-life image of Rani Laxmibai. Nothing can ever be good enough. If we match up to that image, that would be great.”
