One of the masterpieces of Bollywood Manikarnika is set to release on 25th January 2018. The movie stars Kangana Ranaut in the titular role of Rani Lakshmibai.

From the beginning of the movie making, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ has been in the headlines for reasons more than one.

Speaking on Kangna’s experience, she was quoted stating,

“Every film has its own journey, and yes it is true that there were a lot of hurdles at the beginning of the shoot but the team and I have been there for each other and thus were able to complete the project before schedule.”
Not only this but due to the movie, Kangana reportedly becomes the highest paid actress in Bollywood.

The entire flick is a tribute to “Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmibai. She was the first to announce a war cry against the Britishers and consequently changed the course of Indian Independence conflict. So, on account of the 190th birth anniversary of India’s most noted warrior, Rani Lakshmibai, Manikarnika’s producer Kamal Jain shares an affectionate note for Manikarnika- The Queen of Jhansi.

He wrote,

We all have read about Rani Laxmi bai’s inspiring story at school since childhood. The fact that she so bravely fought the British army, with a kid tied to her back, was so brave and courageous. I was always inclined and passionate to tell this tale of valour, courage and sacrifice on silver screen. I am fortunate to present this magnum opus to the world with Zee studios, and work with possibly the best team of pioneers like Vijayendra Prasad sir, Prasoon Joshi sir, Nick Powell, the action director, Neeta Lulla, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, and most importantly Kangana Ranaut who is the the best suitable to play the role of Rani Laxmibai. Manikarnika is a heartfelt tribute to Rani Laxmibai, who gave birth to Indian independence, a hero who inspires generations even now. Khub Ladi Mardaani woh toh Jhansi wali Rani thi!”

The movie is extensively shot in Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, and Bikaner. Also, the film marks the Bollywood debut of popular television face Ankita Lokhande. The film also stars Danny Dezongpa, Atul Kulkarni, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub and Jishu in the pivotal roles.
