#Chhapaak vs. #Tanhaji Both Movies Deserve to Be Watched in Theater Only

Two great and most anticipated movies of the year are already here. Yes, we are talking about Ajay Devgn starrer, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, and Deepika Padukone starrer, Chhapaak. Let’s talk about them one by one.

If we talk about Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the movie is based on the life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare who was the Subedar in the army of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Helmed by the director Om Raut, the film is an amazing take on history’s untold chapter with huge respect for the great warrior.

The story of the flick takes us to the time when Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (Sharad Kelkar) surrendered 23 forts to Aurangzeb (Luke Kenny), including the Kondhana, now known as Sinhagad. However, the Kondhana fort was of strategic importance; hence Rajmata Jijabai (Padmavati Rao) swore that till the fort is recaptured by the Marathas, she would walk bare feet.

Then to ensure that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj cannot reclaim the fort, Aurangzeb sends Udaybhan (Saif Ali Khan), four years later, with a huge army and a massive canon called 'naagin.' Hence Shivaji Maharaj plans a campaign, and when Tanhaji gets to know of the 'muhim' (campaign), he implores Shivaji Maharaj to offer him an opportunity to win Kondhana. And, the rest you will see in the movie.

While reviewing the flick, Movie Critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote,

“#OneWordReview...
Tanhaji: SUPERB.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Drama, emotions, conflict, action, VFX, #Tanhaji is an enthralling experience... Electrifying climax... Top notch direction... #Ajay, #Kajol, #Saif in super form... Get ready for 2020’s first ₹ 💯cr+ film. #TanhajiReview”

Well, we must say the flick 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' scores on various counts — superior performances, visual impact, powerful action,  and most of all, it unfolds a story from the pages of history that deserved to be told, with just this kind of passion, intensity, and vigor.

Now when it comes to Chhapaak, the movie is based on the story of pretty teenager Laxmi Agarwal, who is an acid-attack survivor, and her face was ruined by acid flung by a much older spurned suitor. The subject made headlines, but now with the movie, we get to know the real and complete truth.

Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, who has earlier directed Talvar and Raazi, once again brings her story with maturity and doesn’t get carried away. Instead of evoking sympathy, the director understands the nuances of the subject and sends out a stronger message of standing tall and celebrating life even after you’ve faced adversity at its worst.

Without revealing much about the movie’s story, all we can say is that Chhapaak is a story that makes you sob and smile at the same time. It’s a brave, sensitive,  and gut-wrenching story that’s not easy to watch, but definitely worth telling.

While reviewing the movie, Taran Adarsh wrote,

“#OneWordReview...
Chhapaak: POWERFUL.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½
Some stories should be told. Some issues must be addressed... Gut-wrenching, yet empowering... Aces: Sensitive writing. Skilled direction. Masterful performances... Take a bow, #Deepika and #MeghnaGulzar. #ChhapaakReview”

And, since the film has got glorious reviews and has been receiving accolades, Ranveer Singh also got emotional after watching Chhapaak and wrote on his Instagram handle.

He wrote,

“Meghna, your film gives the audience hope and courage. It shows you the best and worst of humanity in a kaleidoscopic cinematic spectrum. It elucidates a subject that we’ve only ever heard of but never really fully understood. It offers a definitive and insightful deep-dive into the horrific gamut of acid violence. The story shakes you to your core and then lifts you heroically until your emotions soar. Talvar, Raazi and now Chhapaak..may I say “Bravo!” And “Encore!” ❤️ My baby. I’ve witnessed you toil relentlessly to create this special piece of work. You’ve been an engine behind the project, and are the soul of the film. This is the most important instalment in your body of work. You laboured with such honesty in intent and action. You dug deep and fought through your challenges, faced your fears, overcame your struggles and today you and your team stand triumphant as the creators of one of the films of our times. Your performance is way more than everything I thought it could and would be. It’s moved me, stirred me and stayed with me. You blended strength with vulnerability and lent dignity to an immensely complex portrayal in such a fine manner that I’m simply awestruck at your craft. Its staggering and astonishing what you’ve achieved with Malti. A glowing gem in your repertoire. I love you baby. I’ve never been more proud of you. @deepikapadukone #chhapaak”

Well, if we talk about which one you should watch, must say both the movies deserve to be enjoyed in the theater only.
