Some love stories are meant to last forever! And needless to say, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is one such Bollywood romantic classic that won hearts of many. The movie starred Bollywood’s King of romance Shah Rukh Khan as Raj & the bubbly and beautiful actress Kajol as Simran. Redefining romance in the Indian cinema, the movie today clocked 23 years of release.
One of the biggest blockbusters of all time, DDLJ has been uninterruptedly running in the Mumbai’s iconic theatre Maratha Mandir for over 1200 weeks.
On this special occasion, SRK thanked his fans for the unconditional love. He tweeted,
“A special journey that began 23 years ago, goes on even today. Your love has kept Raj & Simran's story alive on the big screen for 1200 weeks non-stop. Thank u for falling in love with us so unconditionally for so many years! #23YearsOfDDLJ”
Even Kajol took to Twitter to thank everyone for the love they have been showering over all these years. She tweeted,
“1200 weeks and still running! thank you all for all the love that you have been showering on #DDLJ for so many years! It was, it is and will always be an incredibly special film for all of us. @iamsrk @yrf #AdityaChopra”
Quite recently, both Kajol and SRK along with their others co-actors attended the grand event of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of their Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
On the professional front, SRK’s upcoming release is Zero which is directed by Aanand L Rai and is set to release this December. A biopic on the astronaut Rakesh Sharma entitled ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha’ will be his next project. Moreover, Kajol is currently shooting for Ajay Devgn’s home production film ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’.
