B-Town Actors React to #GretaThunberg’s Fierce Speech at UN Summit

The teen climate activist Greta Thunberg fearlessly delivered a passionate speech at the United Nations’ Climate Action Summit 2019. This visibly angry 16-year-old young girl, who has Asperger’s syndrome, had put her point strongly and bravely at the high-level summit, attacking the world leaders for failing her generation.

Greta repeatedly asked them: “How dare you?” She said for over 30 years, “the science has been crystal clear.”

She further added-

“How dare you continue to look away, and come here saying that you are doing enough when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight?”

The Swedish Climate crusader Greta took a two-week-long journey on a solar-powered sailboat to reach the US this month. Millions of young climate crusaders, including her, went for a climate strike, which she headlined from the Big Apple.

"People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystem are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?"

In her speech, she warned the world leaders and said-

"You're failing us, but the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say, we will never forgive you."

Many Bollywood celebs shared the clip of her moving speech and applauded her. The Sky is Pink fame actor & UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra Jonas wrote in her social media post, thanking her for the much-needed punch and calling for ways to tackle climate change-

“How dare we fail you... and what audacity we have to not want to help you save what’s left. Thank you @gretathunberg for giving us the much needed punch in the face, for bringing your generation together and showing us that we need to know better, do more to save what is most critical. At the end of the day, we only have this one planet. #howdareyou”

Actor Dia Mirza, who is also a Goodwill Ambassador UN Environment, UN Secretary Generals Advocate for SDGs, said-

“If these young powerful voices don’t shake the conscience of all those refusing to #ActOnClimate,I don’t believe anything will. These young defenders of nature are holding the world accountable. #ChangeIsComing #ClimateAction @GretaThunberg #YouthForClimate @UN #ClimateEmergency”

Kajol also tweeted in Greta’s support-

“I have no words..... such an impactful speech by the young climate activist @GretaThunberg. It's about time we start listening and acting. As she rightly said 'Change is coming, whether you like it or not'!!”

Raazi actor Alia Bhatt wrote-

“Listen. Learn. Think. Act!!!”

Anushka Sharma wrote in a tweet-

“Hear her speak. Think about what she’s saying. Climate. Change. Is. Real.
@GretaThunberg”

Actor Richa Chaddha asked her followers to watch her speech.

The bold and fearless actor, Swara Bhasker, also urged people to watch her speak.

US President Donald Trump, who attended the summit for a brief duration while Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the meet, mocked Greta Thunberg. He wrote-

“She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!”

Meanwhile, a video of Greta Thunberg staring at President Trump with an angry, frowning look at the Climate Action Summit 2019 went viral on social media and netizens slammed him for trolling her.

Later, Greta even changed her Twitter bio, ignoring Trump’s flippant remark-

“A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.”
