Alia Rejects ‘Rock On’ Over Udta Punjab, for More Screen Space

Well, apparently Alia Bhatt was offered ‘Udta Punjab’ along with the sequel of 2008 release ‘Rock on’, which would be the debutant attempt of director Shujaat Saudagar. However, after much deliberation the ‘Highway’ actress chose Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab over ‘Rock on 2’

‘Rock On 2’ is an ensemble cast and the girl's part is that of the band member who replaces Luke Kenny whose character died in Rock On. If you see her roles so far, Alia has done only solo-heroine films. This is not to say she won't work in films with an ensemble cast. But if she's offered something as challenging as Udta Punjab which tests her abilities further and where she's the female lead opposite Shahid, then why not this?" said a source.

As both the films are scheduled to go on floor around the same time in 2015 thus the actress had to pick one, for which Ali Bhatt opted out to prefer ‘Udta Punjab’. When Alia was asked by a reporter about her rejection for ‘Rock On 2’, she replied "Shall we just stick to Udta Punjab? I said a big YES to that!"

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt’s current co-star Shahid Kapoor is going to be her male lead in Abhishek Chaubey’s ’Udta Punjab’as well.
