#20YearsOfSooryavansham: Big B Speaks on Frequent Telecast of Film
Yesterday, ‘Sooryavansham,’ one of the most frequently aired films on television starring Amitabh Bachchan, has completed 20 years of its success. And, to celebrate the 20 years of the flick, Twitter was flooded with hilarious memes about the flick.
Well, the flick certainly became a cult classic over the years, even though the film failed to get the box office registers ringing when it came out.
However, due to its frequent telecast on TV, fans have mixed reactions. Yes, some got excited that they will watch the movie again and some got frustrated with its frequent telecast.
So, in between the memes shared by the Twitter users, one of the fans shared a very interesting research data. This tweet somehow clears the misconception about the frequent telecast of the film.
The post says,
“There is huge misconception that #Sooryavansham is forced upon viewers by @SonyTV , though the fact is its consistent high ratings enabling the frequent telecast. Set Max(or Sony) should make it clear by issuing statement on its record breaking stint on TV since 20 years !!”

The film which was released in 1999 and was directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana was the official Hindi remake of the Tamil film Suryavamsam. The most important feature of the film Sooryavansham is that the actor Amitabh Bachchan played dual roles as both son and father, Heera Thakur & Thakur Bhanupratap Singh respectively.
The story goes as Heera Thakur son of Bhanupratap Singh is not educated. Therefore, his relationship with his son Heera is very strained. However, it doesn’t discourage Heera’s love for his father. After rounds of disrespect, insults, and emotional trauma, Heera Thakur finds love in Soundarya who is playing the role of girl name Radha. But the relationship of theirs vexes Bhanu hence he throws Heera and Heera’s wife out of the house. Eventually, Radha becomes the District Collector whereas Heera becomes a well-respected man. And then everything comes to a happy ending.
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, the film starred Soundarya, Rachana Banerjee, Jayasudha, Kader Khan and Anupam Kher in important roles. Despite 20 years of its release, the film is one of the most watched movies. It won’t be wrong to say that for some, it is more of a habit, and for others, it is just guilty pleasure.
Another intriguing fact about the flick is both Jayasudha and Soundarya’s voice was dubbed by Rekha, an Indian film actress.
Since the film completed 20 years yesterday, the memes exploded on social media. As undoubtedly, social media is one of the creative places for netizens nowadays.
