Zoya Akhtar is born in the year 1972 in Mumbai to a famous poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani. She is the grand daughter of the famous urdu poet Jan Nisar Akhtar. Very few of her fans know that choreographer Farah Khan and director Sajid Khan are her cousins. The renowed actor and director Farhan AKhtar is her younger brother. The old beauty of the town Shabana Azmi is her step mother.Zoya Akhtar completed her graduation from St. Xaviers college, Mumbai. And finally leading towards her dream, she stepped in to New York University Film School to get the knack of film production.
Career:
She has not began her career directly as a director, instead before that she worked as a co-director for a rock-band. Later on she worked as a casting director for many of the films and also as an executive producer for the films. And finally Zoya Akhtar made her Bollywood directional debut through film ‘Luck By Chance’ in the year 2009 that starred Farhan Akhtar and another leading actress of the town Konkana Sen Sharma.In the year 2009 she again ditrected the movie ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ which collected a good amount on the box office. Her last release was ‘Dil Dhadkne Do’ that starred many leading stars of the town like PC, Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and others.
