In his upcoming movie directed by Raja Krishna Menon, we will see him in the role of the boxing hero Dingko Singh who won a gold medal in Asian Games. The film is expected to go on floors in April 2019. The famous boxer Ngangom Dingko Singh hails from Manipur, and he is the first and the only Indian gold medalist in Asian Games in Bantamweight Category.

Ngangom Dingko Singh is an Indian Naval Boxer who won Kings Cup in 1997 and Asian Games Gold in 1998 in Bangkok. He was awarded Arjuna Award in 1998 and Padma Shri in 2013 by the Government Of India for his consistent efforts and dedication.

He was born in an impoverished family in Sekla in Imphal East District of Manipur. He fought adversities back to back in his life since childhood which is worth taking inspiration from. He even fought cancer in 2017 and went through 13 rounds of chemotherapy. It is when cricketer Gautam Gambhir sent money for his treatment, and a team of 13 doctors came forward to help him after knowing his situation.

He didn’t go pro with boxing as he is the serviceman of Indian Navy. Although, he has served as a boxing coach and is a very respected figure in the Indian Navy.

His life has been a roller coaster ride since the beginning. He was brought up in an orphanage. He has faced many ups and downs in his life and is a hero in the real sense.
