After donning one of the epic characters, Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in Padmaavat and wily lawyer Sushil Kumar Pant in Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Shahid Kapoor is all set to bring another epic flick, ‘Kabir Singh.’
It’s been 6-7 months now when Shahid took to Instagram, posted film poster and confirmed his role in the picture. He wrote,

And again two days ago, he took to Instagram and announced the teaser release date with a terrific poster smoking two cigarettes with a stethoscope hung around his neck. He wrote,

And, finally about a couple of hours ago, the teaser is finally released. So once again, he Instagrammed the teaser. He wrote,

It is an official remake of Indian Telugu-language drama film, Arjun Reddy. The story of the flick is based on a successful young medical surgeon who sets out on the path of self-destruction when his girlfriend gets married to another man.
A few months ago, one more news about Kabir Singh got viral that Shahid demanded 12 crores for this project.
The source revealed,
“He was right out of ‘Padmaavat’ for which he got paid around Rs 10 crore for his performance. With the film becoming a huge success with over 300 crores domestic Box Office earnings, Shahid wanted a hike in his pay. He asked for a hefty sum of Rs 12 crore for this remake but the producers refused to budge. Post that there were a lot of discussions between Shahid and the makers of the film. Eventually, Shahid settled for Rs 8 crore.”The film also features Kiara Advani as lady love of Arjun Reddy. Recently, in an interview, she said,
“I can’t say I’ve grown up watching Shahid because he’s not so old. But after completing an entire schedule with him, I can definitely say that I can’t see anyone but him in the titular role. It’s a pleasure to work with someone who brings so much to a scene.”Earlier Shahid Kapoor also had an interview with news agency PTI. There he said that working in remakes is "damn tough."
He explained by taking the example of his film,
“You have loved it for what it was but you can't go out there and copy it. It has to be a rediscovery... The original was Arjun Reddy, based in Hyderabad and Bangalore. This is Kabir Singh which is based in Delhi and Mumbai. May be Arjun and Kabir are cousins but they are not the same person. My journey is only to find Kabir Singh.”He added,
“The original was very raw, very honest. I don't think there was anything in the film that was for effect... The honesty of the film connected with the audience.”Sandeep Reddy Vanga Directorial is produced by Ashwin Varde, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Murad Khetani. The film is slated to release on June 21, this year.
