Irrfan Khan’s Hollywood film Inferno is scheduled for its Indian release on October 14 and an even surprising fact is that it releases in India two weeks before the release in US.
Irrfan Khan stars in Inferno with Hollywood actors Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones.
Inferno Release in India Two Weeks Prior To US
Inferno is a mystery thriller directed by Academy Award winner Ron Howard. The film is an adaptation of the novel of American author Dan Brown titled same. The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons are prequels of the film.
The film will be releasing in four languages English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film is all about thrill and secrets.
Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) wakes up with amnesia in an Italian Hospital. With the help of Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), Robert tries to regain his freedom and lost memories. Racing all across Europe, against the deadly global plot, Irrfan joins them to save the world.
As per a conversation with Indian Express, even Irrfan did not have any idea about this event. He is also surprised and excited at the same time for the early release in India.
“I really want to know why this is happening and it is a great thing for India we can watch a film before America watches it”
Hollywood Films In Indian Market
The managing director of Sony Pictures Entertainment India, Vivek Krishnani says that India is a very big and important market for Hollywood and especially when Irrfan Khan features in the film, it is bound to make reach to the masses.
Vivek Krishnani further added that the film carries Indian background, may also be a reason for the early release.
“I think this brings such a lot of credibility to the film, and the fact that it is set in India, I believe a lot of people are going to turn up to watch the film. Because of this, they have allowed us to release it two weeks in advance. This hype itself is good enough to get people into theatres. We are hoping the accumulation of these few things brings us good numbers at the box office.”
Hollywood Films Can Be A Threat – Irrfan Khan
Irrfan too has the same opinion. In Fact, he feels this may also be a threat for the Indian films.
“I think it is growing very rapidly and Indian films are being affected by it. In other countries too Hollywood has captured a good market. In a way it is a challenge for the Indian film industry, we have to pull our socks up and it is becoming bigger and bigger every week.”
