It involves a lot of practicing, training, continual tight shooting schedules, action sequences and injuries. They put their lives at stake for our entertainment. Given below are some major Bollywood accidents that have occurred while shooting scenes.

This is by far the most critical injury in Bollywood. In 1982 from the film ‘Coolie’, Amitabh Bachchan was shooting a fight scene with Puneet Issar where Amitabh had to fall on a table and then roll on to the ground.

As the scene started, Amitabh got hit by the table corner soon as he jumped over it which led to heavy blood loss from the intestines. Big B was so close to death. It was only the nation’s prayer that brought him back. He recovered in several months before resuming the shoot.

Ranveer Singh in 'Lootera'

The popular, in demand actor Ranveer Singh suffered a complete collapse in his spinal cord while shooting for the romantic drama Lootera in Dalhousie. He went bed ridden for almost 2 years.

There is no doubt that he is a true inspiration for everyone. In an interview with film critic Anupama Chopra, he mentioned that the injury was same as suffering cold.

In December 2012, at the shoot of ‘Gunday’, he hurt himself badly while dancing on a high platform. He lost balance and had a deep cut on his cheek. But with the same spirit, he was back on the sets again.

Hrithik Roshan in ‘Bang Bang’

Hrithik is one of those actors who has an unscratched image in the industry. He keeps on performing stunts in his films and while shooting, the actor many a time falls prey to Bollywood accidents as a part of their film shoots . While shooting for Bang Bang, Hrithik got serious injury in his head which made a clot in his brain.

He underwent brain surgery in July 2013 in order to remove the clot. Here is the statement given by Hrithik for his fans-

“Minor brain surgery to remove blood clot (chronic subdural haematoma). Should be rock n rolling by evening! U guys have a great day too! Supersonic!!”

The actor also suffered severe back pain while shooting stunts for Agneepath. He had to undergo an immediate MRI test.

John Abraham in ‘Shootout At Wadala’

While filming Shootout At Wadala, a scene involved Anil Kapoor shooting John with blank bullet from 15 feet. John was shot from 1.5 meters instead.

This burnt John’s right neck near the collar bone. He had it through him without any complaints and resumed the shoot after recovery.

Sushant Singh Rajput in ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’

Portraying Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s life is not easy. It is a long journey brimmed with struggles. Though Sushant Singh Rajput has done an excellent job in this, he had to face certain challenges. While practicing Dhoni’s signature helicopter shot, Sushant broke his ribs. He had bed rest for more than 3 weeks.

Abbas-Mustan films are no child’s play. While filming for the action thriller ‘Players’ in 2011, Neil Nitin Mukesh suffered four fractures. Despite the broken finger, Neil continued with the shooting schedule with contentment.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in ‘Khakee’

In the much popular film Khakee, Aishwarya Rai and Tusshar Kapoor had to give a shot where a jeep was to come and stop 20 feet in front of them. The shoot was taking place in Nasik. Accidently, the driver lost control and hit the two of them.

They were thrown back in bushes by the road side. Aishwarya had fracture on her left foot and some cuts and bruises on her body.

Aamir Khan in ‘Ghajini’, ‘Dangal’

Aamir Khan is not as popular for his action scenes as Akshay Kumar or Amitabh Bachchan but he is Mr. Perfectionist and allows no boundaries when it comes to work.

In a scene in Ghajini, Aamir had to lift and throw a 100 kg man. He pulled a hamstring while doing this. Despite various practice sessions with the trainers, injury struck him and it worsened even more when he refused to take rest and continued shooting. Eventually, the shoot got delayed by 3 weeks.

In a scene in Ghajini, Aamir had to lift and throw a 100 kg man. He pulled a hamstring while doing this. Despite various practice sessions with the trainers, injury struck him and it worsened even more when he refused to take rest and continued shooting. Eventually, the shoot got delayed by 3 weeks.

The upcoming sports drama film ‘Dangal’ where Aamir is playing the role of a wrestler, had many lifts and stunts to perform. He has conducted all the scenes by himself, no body double has been used.

There was a long action sequence which required multiple takes from different angles. Aamir Khan had a hard time in the final take and they had to rush him to the hospital. Aamir suffered a serious shoulder injury which took weeks to recover.

Shahrukh Khan in ‘Happy New Year’

‘Khiladi’ is obviously the king of stunts. He has suffered innumerable injuries from his original daredevil stunts. At the sets of ‘Rowdy Rathore’ Akshay Kumar hurt his shoulders in the pre-climax scene.
